INSTALLATION CHANGE

I don’t know why I always do this, but I was not feeling the direction I was going towards. The projection mapping video stopped making sense to me and I found a new direction I am excited to pursue.

Trump’s speech regarding the fire still confuses me. I don’t know whether to laugh or join an anti-Trump rally. He said, “You gotta clean your floors, you gotta clean your forests — there are many, many years of leaves and broken trees and they’re like, like, so flammable, you touch them and it goes up. Maybe we’re just going to have to make them pay for it because they don’t listen to us.”

Rather than project on a wall, I want to project on an physical installation of dead leaves! I am working on my first prototype with the dead leaves right now (expect another medium update soon) and this will be the basis of the installation.

The leaves I will be using for my proof of concept will be the skeletons of dead leaves. The goal is that the layering effect will provide a sufficient canvas for the installation but still be translucent enough for the light to pass through and provide interesting shadows behind it.

The base of the installation and mounts will be black or white so that the focus is on the leaves. The shape of the leaves will form a combination of the San Francisco Skyline and the billowy shape of smoke.
